Welcome Hinman Family Members to the 2006 HFA Roundup September 29 - September 30, 2006, are the dates for our official reunion, with the 28th and October 1st as optional days. As your hosts, Ken and Jan Enright, we would like to welcome you to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the Pikes Peak Region. This event will be held at the Castaways Inn, which is actually located in Manitou Springs where 25 rooms have been reserved for us. Nestled at the foot of towering Pikes Peak (14,110 ft) the Castaways and Manitou Springs offer accommodations for one and all. This region has long been a Mecca for those seeking the refreshing pure air of Colorado's Rocky Mountains. Situated at an elevation of 6,412 ft., Manitou Springs serves as the jumping off spot for exploring the Front Range Mountains, and beyond. For those visiting we have hotels, motels, RV & camping facilities, as well as a full range of activities for people of all ages and abilities. The emphasis here in Colorado is "outdoors," and the fall of the year is the best of all seasons. Hopefully the aspen will be in full color, and the weather most pleasant. Located on the Westside of Colorado Springs, "Manitou" is, of course, the name of an Indian god. The "Springs" was added to the town name which was founded in 1871 in recognition of the many natural springs. Currently there are nine accessible to the public, and they are all free and visitors are encouraged to sample the waters. We want you to have an opportunity to explore the town and the area. The theme of this reunion is "Genealogy in the Technology Age." Begin now to make your travel plans. For more information regarding bed and breakfasts, the local 5-Star Hotel (The Cliff House), campgrounds, current weather, etc., check out the official Manitou Springs website at www.manitousprings.org. The Pikes Peak RV Park & Campground (1-800-685-9409 for Reservations Only) at 320 Manitou Avenue is only two blocks away from the Castaways and is AAA Rated. If you fly in, the Colorado Springs airport is 25 minutes away, located southeast of Colorado Springs, with many connecting services through Denver. If you arrive by the evening of the 28th (Thursday) we are planning an icebreaker gathering in our home with Southwestern-style cuisine. The morning of October 1 (Sunday) those of you who are still around can gather for brunch. If you have questions or need more information, you can reach us at home 1-719-685-5959, or by email at [email protected] or [email protected]. We look forward to serving you as your hosts. An official registration form for the reunion will be available as plans are formalized. Ken and Jan Enright P.S. One of the items we are planning is individual NAMETAGS showing your lineage, so dig up that information, or just find your name on the website, and plan on forwarding it to us before the reunion. Send your lineage info to Ken at [email protected] Here's an example of how the nametag would look: "KEN" KENNETH MAURICE ENRIGHT (10)
